Royal Cornwall Agricultural ShowMost major businesses with links to agriculture will have a trade stand at the show. Given the number of farming people at the venue it is regarded as a vital opportunity to attract new business as well as to network with current customers.TruroThere are approximately 22,000 jobs available in Truro; major employers in the city include the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall County Council, and Truro College. The number of jobs is more than twice the number of economically active people living in the city, at 9,500. This results in a large amount of commuting which is a major factor in the traffic congestion problems from which the city suffers. Earnings on average are higher than the rest of Cornwall.KenwynPaul Robins, the Bible Christian pioneer in Canada was born in Kenwyn. Joseph Antonio Emidy, the composer and former slave is buried here, as is Charles Foster Barham, the physician and antiquarian. The Rt Revd Edward Harold Browne (Bishop of Winchester) was Vicar of Kenwyn, 1849?1857, and also held the living of Kea, and from 1854 the Norrisian Chair at Cambridge. John Rundle Cornish was also Vicar of Kenwyn and subsequently Bishop of St Germans.[7]Conrad Meyer was a later vicar who also went on to become a bishop.Hall for CornwallDuring the 1960s, 1970s and earlier 1980s the hall deteriorated. It was used in the 1970s and early 1980s as a venue for Truro's famous 'flea market' which proved extremely popular (the bar area and outside entrance is still used for the Truro antiques market right up to the present day). However, by the mid 1980s, Carrick District Council broached the idea of selling City Hall for redevelopment. Ben Luxon, Chris Warner and some Carrick councillors met to discuss the future of the hall. Carrick offered them a 125-year lease on the Hall at £1 a year and £500,000. They accepted and the campaign for a new City Hall began. Five years after taking over the hall, the contractors moved in. Work on the high tech venue took just over 18 months and the inaugural performance took place on November 15th 1997.University College FalmouthThe 1990s witnessed the rapid development of the College's academic portfolio. Falmouth School of Art & Design became Falmouth College of Arts to signify its recognition of media as an arts subject. From 1992 the College's awards were accredited by the University of Plymouth. By 1996 the student population included 906 full-time and 60 part-time undergraduates, 38 full-time and 68 part-time postgraduates, and 290 FE students.Information by Wikipedia.com
